The 13 Layers

Channel-level diagnosis. Not strategy.

The Marketing Audit is the execution layer. Each of the 13 layers includes: current state with verified data, the gap, the annual revenue consequence, severity rating, and a specific action with owner and deadline.

Layer 01

SEO & Architecture

Indexed pages, DA vs competitors, backlink gap, keyword rankings. Linkbuilding strategy if DA gap >15 vs top competitor.

Layer 02

Conversion Architecture

CTA above fold, lead capture mechanism, social proof at conversion points, mobile checkout friction.

Layer 03

Positioning & Messaging

Homepage headline audit (5-second test), unique positioning vs competitors, offer ladder visibility, target customer named or absent.

Layer 04

Social Media

Platform presence, verified follower counts, posting frequency, founder voice signal, XR1 personal brand inversion check.

Layer 05

Content Engine

Last publish date, competitor publishing frequency comparison, content strategy vs content noise diagnosis.

Layer 06

Email & Retention

Email platform detection, welcome sequence, list size, re-engagement in last 90 days, revenue per subscriber (ecommerce).

Layer 07

Paid Traffic Economics

CAC, LTV, LTV:CAC ratio, ROAS, breakeven ROAS, payback period. Paid readiness verdict: READY / NOT READY.

Layer 08

Authority & Trust

Review count, recency, owner responses, named case studies, press coverage, credentials on commercial surfaces vs buried.

Layer 09

Competitive Positioning

Competitor data table. Channel Ownership Map with every open channel flagged. "No one owns this channel" signals called out.

Layer 10

Customer Journey

Awareness → payment path mapped. Single highest-friction point identified. Where most prospects drop — named and costed.

Layer 11

Offer Architecture

Entry → Core → Premium → Recurring ladder. Missing tiers quantified as immediate revenue opportunity.

Layer 12

Technical Performance

PageSpeed Desktop + Mobile, LCP, CLS. Every second over 3s load time = 7% conversion reduction on mobile (Google benchmark).

Layer 13

Scale & Expansion

Remote delivery infrastructure, multi-market readiness, llms.txt presence. AI search visibility is the new SEO frontier.

Cross-Reference Signals

Seven signals that override everything.

These fire automatically when specific data combinations are detected. They override individual layer recommendations. When XR3 fires, paid ads are blocked — not reduced, not adjusted. Blocked.

XR3 · CRITICAL
Acquisition Without Conversion
Traffic present + reviews low + no lead capture + no follow-up. Every additional visitor produces more frustrated prospects, not more clients.
Rule: NEVER recommend paid ads when XR3 fires. Fix funnel first.
XR4 · HIGH
Trust Deficit Compounding
Business age 3+ years + reviews under 20 + no case studies. Competitors win the decision before the conversation starts.
XR8 · CRITICAL
Growth Investment Without Foundation
Paid ads running + conversion infrastructure broken. Every dollar in ads produces leads that fall into a funnel that can't close them.
Rule: Pause ads → fix funnel → restart. This sequence is non-negotiable.
XR10 · HIGH
Technical Debt Blocking Growth
PageSpeed mobile under 55 AND paid ads running or planned. Every second above 3s = 7% conversion reduction on mobile (Google benchmark).
XR11 · HIGH
DA Desert
DA under 15 AND competitor DA over 30 AND client expecting SEO results in under 6 months. The gap is 12–18 months minimum. Ads and content are the short-term levers.

XR8 FIRED — Paid Waste Pattern Active

Paid readiness verdict: NOT READY. Ads are running without: Facebook Pixel for measurement, email nurture for lead recovery, or sufficient trust signals (1 Google review for a $3K+ ticket). Estimated 65% of current ad spend is producing leads that cannot convert in the current environment.

Action (Owner · Deadline · Cost · Impact)

Pause all cold acquisition campaigns immediately. Install Facebook Pixel and configure conversion events (form submit, booking click). Reactivate when: Google Reviews ≥ 25 + email nurture active + page authority section published. Owner: Marketing lead. Deadline: This week. Cost: $0 (saves $1,800/mo in waste). Expected impact when reactivated on solid foundation: ROAS 4–6x vs current 1.4x.

FAQ

Questions we get every time.

Honest answers about what the audit is, how it's produced, and what to expect.

How is data collected for the audit?+
You have two options. Option A (confidence 9/10): You run 7 free tools (Google site: search, PageSpeed, Ubersuggest, Google Incognito rankings, BuiltWith, Meta Ads Library, Google Maps) and paste the results. We guide you step by step — each takes 2–5 minutes. Option B (confidence 6/10): We proceed with publicly available data and mark all unverified findings as estimated (E). Option A produces significantly sharper analysis because your exact numbers replace directional estimates.
How is this different from an agency audit?+
Agency audits exist to justify a retainer. The sections are designed to create dependency. The Agentica Marketing Audit exists to tell you what's broken and exactly how to fix it — whether you implement with us, with another agency, or internally. Every action includes: owner, deadline, effort in hours, cost, and expected annual revenue impact. The cross-reference signal system (XR3, XR8, etc.) blocks recommendations that would make things worse — something no agency audit ever does.
Do I need the Business Genome Diagnostic first?+
No — the Marketing Audit is a standalone product. However, the Business Genome Diagnostic identifies your primary business constraint (which may not be marketing), while the Marketing Audit diagnoses the specific tactical gaps at the channel level. If you're a CMO who knows the business strategy is sound and needs channel-level execution intelligence, start here. If you're a founder who isn't sure whether the problem is marketing or something deeper, start with the Business Genome Diagnostic ($299).
What competitors are included in the audit?+
Only the competitors you name. We never substitute, add, or replace with competitors we identify independently. If you name 3 competitors, those are the only 3 in the benchmark table and Channel Ownership Map. This is a hard rule in the methodology — your competitive set should reflect your actual market, not ours.
When does an audit recommend pausing paid ads?+
When XR3 or XR8 fires. XR3 fires when: traffic exists + reviews are low + no lead capture + no follow-up. XR8 fires when: paid ads are running + conversion infrastructure is broken. In both cases, the audit blocks paid ads recommendations entirely and requires fixing the funnel first. No marketing audit should recommend spending more on acquisition when the funnel can't convert the leads it already has. This seems obvious — but most agencies recommend more ad spend anyway because that's how they bill.
